hiljemark 0The 22-year-old was a regular for PSV last season, making 36 appearances, but with Andres Guardado and Jorrit Hendrix jumping above him in the pecking order for this campaign, Hiljemark has mainly been rooted to the bench.

Speaking to Voetbal International, Hiljemark, who joined PSV from Elfsborg in 2013 as a huge prospect, has admitted he may have to depart Eindhoven this summer if he can not break back into the first team.

Hiljemark said, “It’s hard, as a human being I have a great time here. The city is great fun, my colleagues, the staff, I get on really well with everyone. But I am here to play football, to become a better player. And that will not happen this way. ‘

“We will see how things develop, but it is clear that I am in a difficult situation.”

This summer Hiljemark will take part in the U21 European Championships for Sweden, and will likely use the tournament to put himself in the spotlight for any interested clubs.

PSV director Marcel Brands will consider offers for the midfielder, “We know his thoughts, but we are very pleased with his contribution. Therefore, we are not going to give him away for an apple and an egg, because we will then have to replace him.”
