Dutch defender Ki-Jana Hoever is not concerned after being left out of Liverpool’s Champions League squad.

The defending Champions League winner’s squad includes Georginio Wijnaldum, Virgil van Dijk and Sepp van den Berg, but there was no place for Hoever, who made his first-team debut for the club last season.

Hoever was asked about being left out of the squad by Voetbal International and he said, “I was not so concerned with it and did not know that the selection was coming. I was there in the second half of the season, but they told me that it was viewed per position and that I should not worry too much about it.

“It’s a shame, but of course they have a large group. I’m already very happy to be able to train. Now I have to work hard and hope to be there in January. I’m still young.”

Hoever has a great relationship with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, “His hugs are nice, yes. That gives confidence. He radiates that he is busy with the youth and that is just very nice.”
