Kevin Hofland has become the new head coach of Fortuna Sittard with Sjors Ultee taking on a new role with the club.

Ultee has been head coach for a year, but Fortuna Sittard have decided for a reshuffle that will see Hofland take over the role. Ultee will be joint assistant coach and technical director, while Kristof Aelbrecht will remain as an assistant too.

Hofland has not yet completed his coaching badges but the KNVB have approved the appointment, with the corona virus causing an special circumstance.

In a statement on the club’s website, Ultee said, “Not usual, perhaps, but a logical construction for us.

“In practice, Kevin, Kristof and I will complete the technical policy with the three of us. We have worked very well together this season and that will remain the case in the new set-up. As head coach, Kevin will take over my duties, for example to the media, but much will remain the same. I stay active on the field and will also be on the bench during matches.”
