Ajax striker Dillon Hoogewerf has decided not to sign his first professional contract with the Amsterdam club and instead is expected to join Manchester United.

The 16-year-old is regarded as one of the most promising forwards in the Ajax academy, with Hoogewerf scoring 10 goals and adding six assists this season for the Ajax U17’s.

The forward also made his debut for the U19’s and made three appearances in the UEFA Youth League. However, Ajax have been unable to convince him to sign his first professional contract with the club.

Speaking to Ajax TV, head of Youth Education Said Ouaali confirmed Hoogewerf’s decision to leave, “Dillon has indicated last week that he will leave the club.

“He is leaving for a foreign club. We wish him a lot of success and know that we have done everything to keep him. He may ultimately make the choice and choose a foreign adventure.”

Ajax did not confirm his destination but it is expected to be Manchester United.
