Kongolo has struggled for playing time since joining Monaco in the summer for €13 million from Feyenoord and the club are willing to let him leave on loan in January.

Speaking at his press conference, David Wagner confirmed the defender is close to joining Huddersfield Town, “I can confirm that we are approaching a deal.

“We are charmed by him, we know him and now we are going to see what will happen in the transfer period, I can not answer very concretely, but we are close and hopefully we can pull the deal off.”

Kongolo has made six appearances for Monaco this season.
