De Telegraaf reported on Tuesday night that Janssen had spent the day in London to hold initial talks with Tottenham, and stated that a €15 million bid was in the making.
However, speaking to VI, AZ director Max Huiberts confirmed that talks with Tottenham are at an early stage, but stressed, “We have not yet received an offer.”
Janssen netted twice during the international break and while Huiberts is happy to see his star striker doing well for Netherlands, he admitted it is making the chances of him remaining in Alkmaar almost impossible.
He said, “On one hand this is good news but on the other hand the goals will attract interest from other clubs.
“We love Vincent and would like him to stay at AZ next season.”
Tottenham may face competition to sign the 21-year-old with AD reporting that German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have also made their interest known to AZ.
