Huntelaar, 35, rejoined the Amsterdam side in 2016, having previously spent two years with the club from 2006 to 2008. Between both spells he has amassed over 200 appearances, scoring 133 goals, while winning the KNVB Cup and the Johan Cruijff Shield.
Regarding the extension, Ajax’s director of football Marc Overmars was quick to praise the veteran, stating that “Klaas Jan is very important to us, he adds a lot to the team, partly because he has a huge winning mentality.
“Klaas Jan is 100% professional in everything he does” Overmars continued, “look at the number of goals he has already made, which shows that he has a lot of value for Ajax in competitions.
“I am sure that he will have that in the coming months and next season, so we are glad he has extended”.
Noussair Mazraoui also signed a contract extension on Sunday which keeps the right-back in Amsterdam until 2022.
