The goalkeeper clashed with striker Klaas jan Huntelaar in a training session held at AZ’s AFAS Stadion on Sunday, and had to be helped off the field. The Ajax number one will now not travel to England.
Cillessen becomes the second player to be ruled out of Tuesday’s match after Wesley Sneijder succumb to injury in the defeat to France on Friday. Coach Danny Blind now needs to decide whether he calls a replacement or just continues with Kenneth Vermeer and Jeroen Zoet.
Daley Blind also sat out of the session after complaints of a tight hamstring, but the Manchester United star should be fine to face England.
