huntelStarting his 7th league game since returning from a long term injury, Huntelaar needed only six minutes to open the scoring as he slotted in from close range. His second goal came just before the half hour mark with a terrific left footed strike from the edge of the box.

Before half time, Huntelaar missed a penalty, as his weak effort into the centre of the goal was easily saved by the Hoffenheim keeper. However the Dutchman was not to be denied his hat-trick as in the second half he again scored from close range to seal the 4-0 win.

Huntelaar will be hoping that his good form, coupled with Robin van Persie’s troubles at Manchester United, could see him impress national team boss Louis van Gaal enough to make him a starter at the World Cup.

Also in the Bundesliga today, Arjen Robben’s Bayern Munich hammered Bas Dost’s Wolfsburg 6-1, while Hamburg drew 1-1 with Frankfurt, but Ouasim Bouy and Ola John were unused subs.
