The 17-year-old is a Netherlands youth international but was included in a provisional Morocco squad this week for their upcoming friendlies with Burkina Faso and Niger.
After netting in PSV’s 2-0 win at Heracles on Sunday night, Ihattaren was asked about his international future by Fox Sports.
He said, “I am honored by the pre-selection, but for the time being I am not going to make my choice.
“We’ll see. I just want to be important and also make an international name for myself. That would be nice in the Netherlands, but also in Morocco. I owe a lot to the Netherlands. I’ll not forget that in my choice.”
He is only 17 give him a minute just made is debut.
I still think not picking Ziyech for Oranje was mistake tho he could of waited longer even at Twente he was brilliant & could tell he was going to be great. And could of used on RW or in mid 3 as RM he would just add that extra creativity & does back track great work rate w De Jong too & then don’t have to rely on Depay to create
So give him some time.
This decisions aren’t easy most think you would want to play where where born but some players like Kik Pierie I believe born in USA but family moved back before he was few months old. And some feel really tied to their parents homeland bc how they are raised. Then have that it can be a lot easier of get in smaller football nations see it w Oranje a lot & England w Africa as well & Ireland who scoop up going players from England w Irish Grandoarents or Parents grab them at 15-16 bc England haven’t like Rice who I can see both sides & half of Ireland’s team was born in England.
But in the end the Oranje are back to being a top nation and have so much talent while Morocco does too they are nowhere near Oranje. Them have Curacuo too who could have the best Gold cup team w Mexico imo if they get the Dutch fringe players
