Alexander Isak contributed two goals and two assists as Willem II defeated Heracles Almelo 4-3 in a thrilling match.

Both teams went into the match looking for a victory to boost their chances of finishing in the European playoff spots.

The opening stages were a cagey affair with Brandley Kuwas firing off-target in the only real chance. On the stroke of halftime the deadlock was broken by the visitors. Pol Llonch robbed Jesper Drost before playing through Alexander Isak, who calmly slotted Willem II ahead.

Isak, who scored a hattrick at the weekend, is in red-hot form and he made it 2-0 in the 56th minute via the inside of the post. Seven minutes later, Isak turned provider, setting up Vangelis Pavlidis to make it 3-0.

Brandley Kuwas found the bottom corner with a lovely strike to pull one back for the hosts before Joey Konings made it 2-3 with just under ten minutes left.

Isak then set up Marios Vrousai to ease Willem II’s worries and Adrian Dalmau’s goal in stoppage time was nothing but a consolation for the hosts.

Willem II are still 8th but now only two points behind Heracles in 7th.
