The 34-year-old put pen to paper on a one year deal to return to De Kuip on Thursday, and he will officially be a Feyenoord player once again when his Fenerbahce contract ends this summer.
Speaking to De Telegraaf, Kuyt said of his return to Feyenoord, “I always kept in my mind: perhaps the day comes that I return. Its coming next season and that makes me really proud. The belief that we can achieve something at the club has given me the final push to opt for Feyenoord.”
Kuyt originally signed for Feyenoord from Utrecht in 2003, and became a fans favourite at the club during his three-year-spell, scoring 71 goals in 101 league appearances, before leaving for Liverpool in 2006. After six years at Anfield, and three years in Turkey with Fenerbahce, Kuyt will now return to spearhead Feyenoord’s title challenge next season.
Great news hope van Der vaart also comeback to Ajax
Very good move by Feyenoord! Kuyt should have a couple of good years left even at age 34/35. But and this is more important, he provides great leadership for all the young talent. Help them develop as players both on and off of the pitch. If we can add in Guidetti this summer and somehow keep CKR that would be a great forward line!
