Jan Olde Riekerink spoke to the NOS upon his appointment as the new manager of SC Heerenveen.

The 55-year-old replaces Jurgen Streppel who stepped down from his position at the end of the season and has signed a two-year deal.

Riekerink said, ”I have a lot of experience in football management and I always had the ambition to work as a manager in the Netherlands in the Eredivisie and SC Heerenveen have given me that opportunity.

”SC Heerenveen is a team that is known for playing attractive football and the club are ambitious. At SC Heerenveen it’s about developing young players and guiding them in their career and I have experience of that in my career. We always have to ensure a top sports climate.

”We must entertain our supporters.

”I am not afraid of the pressure at Eredivisie level. if that was the case I would not have gone in to football management. ”

Jan Olde Riekerink previously managed Gent, FC Emmen and Galatasaray
