After nine straight league wins, Royal Antwerp tasted defeat for the first time in the Belgian league. KV Kortrijk came out on top 2-1.

Mark van Bommel’s side had made a perfect start to their league campaign with nine wins out of nine. He decided to start without Jurgen Ekkelenkamp at KV Kortrijk, but Vincent Janssen remained up front.

The home side went into the game in the bottom three with only two wins, but they went into the break 2-0 up thanks to goals from Felipe Avenatti and Faiz Selemani.

Van Bommel brought Ekkelenkamp on for the second half, but Antwerp could not find a way back into the game. In injury time, Janssen scored a penalty but that was just a consolation.

Royal Antwerp still sit top of the league but they are now only two points above Genk.
