The Premier League club confirmed the signing of the striker on a four-year-deal on Tuesday, sealing an incredible year for Janssen, who was playing second division football with Almere City until last summer.
Speaking to De Telegraaf, Janssen admitted he will need time to adapt to the Premier League, “Of course I want to play football. But I will need time to adapt. Yet I know there will be plenty of minutes. With the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup i will play many games with Spurs. And I’m going to enjoy all the playing time I get. ”
Janssen was asked why he only wanted to join Spurs, he responded, “After the tour of the training ground and the stadium, I knew for sure: what a fantastic club. And the conversation with the coach (Mauricio Pochettino) was perfect as there was an immediate click. He clearly knew my game and how he sees my future. “
Any player from overseas coming to ply his trade in a different league is going to need time to adapt, it goes without saying. The tempo will be different to what he is used to however, with the calibre of players around him, it shouldnt be too long before he finds his feet. It also helps by the fact that Vincent wants to be at the club and eager to progress and under Pochettino’s guidance, he will be fine and do well.
