Current Heracles Almelo manager John Stegeman spoke to the NOS about his decision to drop down a division to become new Go Ahead Eagles head coach as of next season.

The Deventer club announced Stegeman’s appointment on Wednesday with the 41-year-old signing a two-year contract.
Stegeman said, ”I was born and raised very close to Deventer and I went to watch Go Ahead Eagles matches and these elements were decisive in my decision to become Go Ahead Eagles manager.
”I felt the need to accept this challenge. I am delighted to be able to work for Go Ahead Eagles.
”Deventer breathes football in its streets and the environment and we have to cherish that as club.
”We have fanatical supporters and I played for some great matches for Go Ahead Eagles in my career and I really enjoyed my football here in Deventer.
