In the run-up to AZ Alkmaar’s trip to the Amsterdam Arena on Sunday, Van den Brom has been linked with replacing De Boer, should the Ajax boss decide to leave.
Van den Brom responded to the speculation, telling NOS, ”By all clubs that you play for in your career you have an affinity with them and in some cases that affinity is stronger at certain clubs.
”I had fantastic years at Ajax as a player and with coaching Jong Ajax but I am now manger of AZ and I am enjoying it here too.
“In football things that are in the past you must leave them behind and keep the good things with you as in my case not just with Ajax but also with Vitesse Arnhem and of course Anderlecht where I really enjoyed my time as manager.”
Rumors are circulating in the press that Ajax would appear to be the next logical step for John van der Brom. He stated the following ”It is not up to me to dictate the next step in my career.
”I am satisfied here at AZ which is very important to me.
”I also speak to Frank de Boer on a regular basis and he is also satisfied at Ajax so these stories of me succeeding him are of no significance whatsoever.
”Frank de Boer and I have played together and in football these days almost all of the managers you encounter you have either played with or against so when you see them again it is nice to reminisce”.
