Feyenoord began the second half of the season with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Heerenveen in De Kuip.

Justin Bijlow started in goal for the hosts after Kenneth Vermeer’s move to LA. For Heerenveen, Jens Odgaard was out so Jordy Bruijn’s started through the middle.

Heerenveen started the game very brightly but in the ninth minute, Luis Sinisterra gave Feyenoord the lead with an excellent overhead kick.

Eight minutes later, Nicolai Jorgensen doubled the lead with a close range finish after being set up by Jens Toornstra. In the 26th minute, Jorgensen headed in an Orkun Kokcu free-kick to make it 3-0 and the hosts were threatening to run riot.

However, Joey Veerman pulled one back before the break with a strike that found the net via the inside of the post.

In the second half, both sides created several opportunities but there were no further goals.

Feyenoord remain unbeaten in the league under Dick Advocaat and they are fourth. Heerenveen sit 8th.
