Fortuna Sittard have confirmed the loan signing of Dutch midfielder Leandro Fernandes from Italian giants Juventus.

The 19-year-old started his career in the academies of NEC Nijmegen and PSV Eindhoven before joining Juventus back in 2017.

Fernandes has been a part of the Juventus U23 squad and is considered to be a big talent at the club. They want him to get regular first-team action this season and have agreed to send him on loan to Fortuna Sittard for the season.

Fernandes told the Fortuna website, “As a 19-year-old player you mainly want to make a lot of playing minutes. If you then get the chance to do that at the highest level in the Netherlands then that is a great option at this age. At Fortuna Sittard the technical staff offers young players opportunities and a lot of attention is paid to their development. I hope that we will win competitions as a close team this season. Because that is ultimately what it’s all about. ”

Fortuna Sittard also signed defender George Cox on loan from Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion.
