Feyenoord youngster Rick Karsdorp has placed the blame for the club’s Europa League defeat to HNK Rijeka on himself.

karsdorpsssThe 19-year-old talent, who usually plays as an attacking midfielder, came on in place of injured right back Luke Wilkshire at half time with the score still locked at 0-0 in Croatia.

After 65 minutes, Karsdorp lost his marker Marin Leovac, who set up the opening goal, and although Jens Toornstra equalised, the youngster was again at fault for Rijeka retaking the lead as he misjudged a long ball, allowing Kramaric through on goal to score.

Speaking after the match Karsdorp said, “For this defeat I blame myself enormously.”

“I have shed some tears because ive left my teammates in the lurch.We did well in the first half, but when i came on it went wrong”
