Huntelaar was handed his first league start of the campaign and netted a header to open the scoring and send Ajax on route to their first win of the season.

After the game, he said, ”We won today and we can enjoy it. We have to win every game. We must now look ahead to Rosenborg on Thursday night/

”In the position, we were in we needed a win. We had spells during previous games where we played well but did not win or ended up drawing such as in the games against Nice.

”We have to be sharper with the errors with that we have made in previous games.”

On returning to Netherlands from abroad, Huntelaar added, “Abroad not many players are paying attention to the Netherlands in terms of coming to play football here. Germans are focused on Germany and Italians on Italy etc. But during my time abroad you come across people that are in the know when it comes to the Dutch league.”
