klaassen-eurAjax fell behind early on but goals from Bertrand Traore and Jairo Riedewald turned the game around in Athens.

Klaassen said on the victory,”We certainly did not start well at all. We wanted to apply pressure to Panathinaikos from the offset but we were too late with tackes and interceptions. We were fully aware that Panathinaikos would counter but they were set up in a defensive way.

”I thought the game turned when we equalized and we can be satisfied with our victory tonight.

”It’s unfortunate that Hakim Ziyech received two yellow cards and I thought therefore that we made it difficult for ourselves in the last 15 minutes of the game. It would have been easier to see the game out playing with 11 men against 10.

”This is our 3rd victory in a row but we are aware that it has not been pretty but we are working on it. It feels good to win.”
