The 19-year-old missed out on Jong Oranje’s win over Bolivia last week but started the penalty win over Paraguay on Tuesday evening.

After the game, Kluivert said on the trip to South America, ”Thanks to our goalkeeper we can celebrate our penalty win today. I want to give him a massive compliment.

”Today was a new experience for us to play against a South American team Paraguay it is something that we are not used to and we have learned a lot and we now know what to expect when facing a South American team in future. South American teams play with so much passion and are also defensively good.

”I am now looking forward to my holiday during this trip I had some trouble with my knee and I look forward to being fit and fresh for next season. I learned a lot this trip in terms of a new environment and getting to know my teammates better. I only have good memories of this trip.

”I have high expectations of myself I believe that the differences of training between the Dutch national team and under 21’s are for example training with the Dutch national team with players who are more experienced and that play at a high level including Champions League. ”

Kluivert spoke recently to De Volkskrant and stated he would not be renewing his contract with Ajax, which has led to speculation around a move to AS Roma.

However, Kluivert has now stated that he could remain in Amsterdam, ”It is possible that I will stay at Ajax. I can’t say too much and I am now just looking forward to my holiday and we will wait and see what happens during the summer.

”I have to think about things and we will see what will happen ”
