blatter gjgjThe Football governing body yesterday provisionally suspended its president Sepp Blatter, secretary general Jerome Valcke and vice-president Michel Platini for 90 days. Other officials were also suspended.

The KNVB statement read “Mr Blatter’s provisional suspension by the ethics committee of FIFA, under heavy suspicion of fraudulent conduct, has an intolerable negative impact on the sport and its administrators. Anyone who loves football will be horrified by these developments.”

The top body in Holland had been behind Michel Platini to become FIFA president and had this to say about that,

“Today’s provisional suspension of Michel Platini, President of UEFA, makes the issue even more complex and more embarrassing. The KNVB supported Mr Platini’s bid to succeed Mr Blatter. Partly for this reason, the KNVB will start consultations with other associations about the two suspensions and their impact as soon as possible after the upcoming two qualifying matches of the national team.

KNVB wants FIFA to implement the plans put forward by its president Michael van Praag and as soon as possible.

KNVB also went on to say, “The KNVB wants a new FIFA, a transparent FIFA a trustworthy FIFA. It wants a FIFA which is open to the outside world, a FIFA which clearly and openly puts an end to the shady practices it is now, unfortunately, associated with.”
