Away from Feyenoord’s 1-0 win over Ajax the KNVB Cup third round also saw four other ties on Wednesday night. Below is a round up of all the action.

Excelsior 31 4-3 Excelsior
Eredivisie outfit Excelsior have suffered the shock of the round after being knocked out by amateur side Excelsior 31.
Striker Tom Van Weert had put Excelsior 2-0 up in the opening ten minutes, but the Eredivisie side then shut off and before the break the scores were level thanks to goals from Cem Kose and Patrick Gerritsen.
Niek Davina then put the home side in front early in the second half, but Van Weert completed his hat-trick as it looked like Excelsior would save their blushes. However Hakim Ezafzari was the hero for Excelsior 31 as his goal late on sent the amateur side into the next round.
Utrecht 5-3 Groningen
Cup holders Groningen are out of the cup after an extraordinary game in Utrecht which ended 5-3 to the home side after extra time.
In the first minute Bart Ramselaar put Utrecht in front, but Groningen eventually equalised on 32 minutes when Michael de Leeuw slotted in from close range.
Bryan Linssen raced through on goal to slot past Robbin Ruiter two minutes into the second half to put Groningen in front, but the lead only lasted eight minutes before Mark Diemers sent a low shot into the bottom corner to make it 2-2.
Ten minutes before the end Yassin Ayoub slotted in a corner to put Utrecht back in front, but once again a lead was not held as Jasper Drost sent the game into extra time.
In extra time Nacer Barazite arrowed a strike into the bottom corner to make it 4-3 for Utrecht before Kristoffer Peterson fired an excellent strike into the top corner to seal their progress.
FC Lienden 1-1 Roda JC (Roda JC win on penalties)
Roda JC have scraped into the next round after a 5-4 penalty win over FC Lienden, who held the Eredivisie outfit to a 1-1 draw during regular time.
Roda JC dominated the game and eventually they took the lead late on through Tom Van Hyfte, but almost immediately Lienden equalised. As the game headed for penalties it seemed Lienden were heading through after Daniel de Silva missed, but Guillano Grot squandered the decisive penalty for the amateurs.
The shoot out went on and Christiaan Hussen’s miss proved fatal for the home side.
