The early kick off in the cup saw Ajax travel to minnows Urk, who play in the Hoofdklasse Saturday C division. The Eredivisie champions were far from their best but they are comfortably through to the next round after a 4-0 victory. Lerin Duarte opened the scoring after the half hour mark, while Arkaduisz Milik continued his scoring form by adding a second from the penalty spot, and the third before half time. Richairo Zivkovic was brought on for his first team debut in the second half, and the forward completed the scoring late on.
Heracles Almelo were the big winners of the night after they hammered Eerste Divisie side FC Emmen 6-2. Midfielder Oussama Tannane was the hero for the home side scoring an incredible five goals, while Bryan Linssen was also on the scoresheet for the Eredivisie’s bottom club. Alexander Bannink and Tim Siekman scored the consolation goals for Emmen.
VVV Venlo are into next round after a 2-0 win over fellow Eerste Divisie side MVV. Vito van Crooy opened the scoring after 38 minutes and Melvin Platje completed the win with 20 minutes left.
Amateurs Deltasport, who knocked out Willem II in the last round, could not repeat their giant killing and were comfortably beaten 4-1 by De Graafschap. The Eerste Divisie side led 2-0 at the break through Jan Lammers and Karim Tarfi, but Deltasport pulled one back five minutes into the second half as Reduan Boulfalfal netted. However any chance of a comeback was ended when Robbin Propper added a third and Jeroen Moers scored a fourth.
NAC Breda needed an Erik Falkenburg goal in extra time to see off Eerste Divisie side Fortuna Sittard, who came back from 2-0 down. The Eredivisie strugglers seemed to be heading for a simple win then Mats Seuntjens put them in front after four minutes and Adnane Tighouadini doubled their lead from the spot just before the break. However Fortuna Sittard came back in the second half with goals from Seku Conneh and Jordi Baur taking the match into extra time before Falkenburg settled the game.
The final match of the evening was an all Eredivisie affair between Vitesse and Dordrecht in Arnhem. A penalty from Marko Vejinovic and a second half strike from Denys Oliynyk gave the home side the lead, and although Ricky van Haaren pulled one back with a lovely strike Vitesse held on for a 2-1 win.
