Ajax will face Vitesse Arnhem in the KNVB Cup final after a comfortable 3-0 win over Heerenveen.

Ajax made one change from the side that drew at PSV Eindhoven with Devyne Rensch out and Perr Schuurs coming in. Heerenveen lined up with both Lasse Schone and Siem de Jong.

From the start, Ajax dominated possession and eventually in the 19th minute, Davy Klaassen headed them 1-0 in front.

Antony fired just wide as Ajax continued to dominate and Klaasen had the ball in the net again, only for VAR to rule it out for a handball. Heerenveen’s only attempt of the half came just before the break with De Jong’s attempted lob landing on the roof of the net.

Ajax lost Klaassen to an injury early in the second half but his replacement Mohammed Kudus earned a penalty after being tripped in the box. Dusan Tadic made it 2-0 from the spot.

Heerenveen then got their best chance of the game when Mitchell van Bergen raced through on goal but Maarten Stekelenburg denied the attacker.

In the 77th minute, Ajax made it 3-0 with David Neres getting behind the Heerenveen defence to slot past Erwin Mulder.

Ajax comfortably saw out the rest of the game to seal their place in the final against Vitesse. The final takes place on the 18th of April.
