AZ Alkmaar have booked their place in the KNVB Cup final after a simple 4-0 win over FC Twente in the AFAS Stadion.

The game went ahead despite freezing cold temperatures in Alkmaar and the home crowd were quickly treated to the opening goal with Guus Til finding the bottom corner on 24 minutes to make it 1-0.

It should have been 2-0 shortly afterwards but Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Wout Weghorst wasted chances, while at the other end, Marco Bizot comfortably saved from Oussama Assaidi.

After the break, AZ remained in control and eventually the second goal came just after the hour mark with Weghorst stooping to head in a Oussama Idrissi cross.

Fredrik Midtsjø crossed for Idrissi to make it 3-0 and the in-form winger then got his second of the night to seal the win from a Weghorst assist.

AZ will face the winner of Feyenoord v Willem II in the final.
