NEC Nijmegen has progressed to the KNVB Cup quarter-finals after a 3-2 win over Fortuna Sittard in extra-time.

Fortuna Sittard headed into the game in good league form with three wins in their last four games.

The Eredivisie side was dominant and eventually they took the lead through Zian Flemmig on the hour-mark. The forward latched onto a long ball before finishing at the second attempt.

However, NEC equalised four minutes later with Rangelo Janga heading in a cross. Neither side could then find a winner and the game went to extra-time.

In the 97th minute, Sebastian Polter conceded a penalty and Jordy Bruijn converted to make it 2-1. Five minutes later, Thomas Beekman added a third on the rebound.

Flemming then pulled one back in the 103rd minute but Fortuna Sittard could not tie the game before the end and it is NEC Nijmegen who progress.
