Utrecht have eased into the KNVB Cup semi-finals after a 4-1 win at Go Ahead Eagles.

Go Ahead were hoping to take inspiration from NAC Breda’s win over AZ Alkmaar on Wednesday. However, Utrecht were the better side from the start and eventually took the lead through Simon Gustafson in the 37th minute.

Adam Maher then put Utrecht firmly i n control three minutes into first-half stoppage time with a deflected free-kick.

Jaroslav Navrátil brought the hosts back into the game four minutes into the second half with a strike on the rebound. A comeback was not on the cards through as Jean-Christophe Bahebeck slotted in a Gyrano Kerk cross to make it 3-1.

Kristoffer Peterson then sealed the victory for Utrecht with a great strike.

Ajax are now Utrecht’s opponents in the semi-finals.
