VVV-Venlo are through to the next round of the KNVB Cup after a simple 4-1 victory over Almere City.

After Excelsior knocked out PEC Zwolle on Tuesday, Almere City thought they also had a chance to cause an upset when Thomas Verheydt headed them in front.

However, VVV equalised in the 33rd minute with Vito van Crooij finding the net. He then turned provider with a free-kick that found Jafar Arias to make it 2-1 just before the break.

Evert Linthorst made it 3-1 seven minutes after the break after a Joshua John shot was turned into his path. Arias then wrapped up the victory late on.

VVV are now into the third round.
