The KNVB have been looking for a new head coach since Dick Advocaat stepped down from the position in November after failing to reach the World Cup.

On Tuesday, Ronald Koeman was presented as the new head coach on a contract which runs until the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. As a player, Koeman wore Oranje 78 times, but he is now tasked with guiding Netherlands to Euro 2020 and then the World Cup.

The 54-year-old, who has been out of work since leaving Everton earlier in the season, has previously coached Vitesse, Ajax, Benfica, PSV, Valencia, AZ Alkmaar, Feyenoord and Southampton.

Nico-Jan Hoogma was also presented as the new technical director of the KNVB. Kees van Wonderen and Patrick Lodewijks are set to assist Koeman, but their positions have not yet been confirmed.
