Koeman’s debut as Netherlands boss ended with a slim defeat to England with Jesse Lingard’s second-half strike giving the visitors the victory in Amsterdam.

After the game, Koeman said to Veronica, “We had trouble creating something, especially because we were less stuck to the ball than England but well, I’m not surprised. It would have been very crazy if we had suddenly played England off the pitch when I become a national coach.

“I’ve seen good things, but also things that need improvement. but we have to have more peace of mind, and we have other players to come in. We were good in terms of organization, England did not have many opportunities either. ”

Koeman praised his defence, especially Matthijs de Ligt and said he wouldn’t change tactics against Portugal on Monday, “The back three were good and Hans Hateboer was more than sufficient. Matthijs de Ligt was actually the best man on the field.

“We will not start with the same eleven on Monday against Portugal, but I see no reason to change the system. We have to see how we are going to put it right, in offensive especially. ”
