Koeman is still in his first season with Southampton, who currently sit sixth in the Premier League, but this hasn’t stopped the former Feyenoord and Valencia boss being linked with a number of other clubs.
The 51-year-old has admitted that he dreams of coaching Barcelona, the club he starred for as a player between 1989 and 1995.
Speaking to Spanish Radio show El Partido de las 12, Koeman said, “Everyone knows what I have with Barcelona and Barcelona has with Ronald Koeman. So if I could coach the club one day, that would be a dream.”
Manchester City are another club that Koeman’s name has been linked with, and he joked that he is in regular contact with their director Txiki Begiristain, who he played with at Barcelona.
Koeman added, “Txiki has my number,”
“That is a joke. But we are in contact from time to time. We saw each other when we played City. We are friends and in frequent contact. We are both very happy to be able to work in England.”
“I am ready to coach a big club. I have spent a lot of time coaching at various clubs, and this type of experience is very important to be a good coach.
“But at the moment I am thinking just about Southampton. I have two more years on my contract after this season.”
