Ronald Koeman heaped praise on Memphis Depay during his press conference ahead of Netherlands clash with Northern Ireland.

The forward has been a key player for Netherlands ever since Ronald Koeman took charge, with his seven assists and six goals a big reason why Oranje top their group.

Memphis has also been key for Lyon ever since joining them from Manchester United in 2017. He is now being linked with a move back to England with Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking at his press conference on Friday, Koeman said on Memphis, “I think he’s a top player and maybe during his time at Manchester United he was a little bit too young.

“He’s now more experienced and what he’s showed and what he has done for the national team is great and I’m really glad that we have that kind of player in our national team.”

Memphis is still a doubt for Saturday’s clash with Northern Ireland, with Koeman confirming he will decide before the game if his star striker can take part.
