01 koemDanny Blind’s future as Netherlands boss is already being questioned after two recent defeats, which have left the Dutch national team on the brink of missing out on Euro 2016. Rumours are now linking other coaches with the job, with Ronald Koeman inevitably named as a possible successor.

Koeman, who was overlooked by the KNVB before they appointed Guus Hiddink last year, was asked about the national team job during his press conference on Thursday, and admitted he is hoping to one day coach the Oranje, but not until at least 2017.

He said, “It is not the best moment for the Dutch national team,”

“We know that and of course there are always those kinds of rumours.

“Everybody knows it is part of my ambition, but in the future. Not for now. Not for next year. Maybe in the future but not at this time.”

On whether he would listen to an offer from the KNVB, Koeman added, “No, no. I continue to the last year of my contract.”
