The midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal and Sevilla this summer, despite openly stating he was looking to remain with Feyenoord. The Turkish star just wanted the club to show him that he was a valued member of the squad.
That has now happened and Kokcu has agreed in principle to sign a new contract until 2025. This new deal replaces his previous one that ran out in 2023.
Technical director Frank Arnesen told the club’s website, “Orkun has developed very well last season and has made great strides in his young career. We would like to reward him for that.Β We are confident that this development will continue in the coming years.Β Moreover, it is very nice for us that we can bind such a talented player to us for longer.”
The contract rules out a summer transfer for the 19-year-old, who will be available to Dick Advocaat next season.
