Ligue 1 champions AS Monaco have confirmed the signing of Feyenoord defender Terence Kongolo on a five-year deal.

Earlier on Monday, it was clear a move was on the cards with Kongolo absent from Feyenoord training, and Monaco have now confirmed the 23-year-old’s signing for a fee of €15 million.

Kongolo, who can play at left-back or in the centre of defence, had a contract with Feyenoord for another two years but he follows Rick Karsdorp through the exit.

Kongolo made 138 appearances for Feyenoord and has earned three caps for the Dutch national team. He joins Monaco as a possible replacement for Benjamin Mendy, who has been heavily linked with Manchester City.
