Earlier on Monday, it was clear a move was on the cards with Kongolo absent from Feyenoord training, and Monaco have now confirmed the 23-year-old’s signing for a fee of €15 million.
Kongolo, who can play at left-back or in the centre of defence, had a contract with Feyenoord for another two years but he follows Rick Karsdorp through the exit.
Kongolo made 138 appearances for Feyenoord and has earned three caps for the Dutch national team. He joins Monaco as a possible replacement for Benjamin Mendy, who has been heavily linked with Manchester City.
Another top player out the door. Kinda makes winning the title and getting to play CL football a loss. Kongolo gets 15 million. Would rather have the player than the money. Also shows how underpaid Feyenoord was for Karsdorp. Kongolo should have brought in more Karsdorp should have brought in more. At least 10 million left on the table.
No other players should be sold regardless of price! Feyenoord has 25 million to spend and will make 25-30 next year on the CL. No need to sell. Extend players!
