The 29-year-old agreed to sign for Brighton on a season-long loan from Newcastle United in August, but that deal has now been made permanent.

The move ends Krul’s 12-year spell with Newcastle, and means he can face his now former side when they visit Brighton on Sunday.

Krul joined Newcastle from ADO Den Haag in 2005 and made 185 appearances for the club. Last summer he was deemed surplus to requirements and was loaned to Ajax before that deal was cut short and he moved to AZ Alkmaar.
