The 35-year-old returned to Rotterdam last summer, but only signed a one-year contract with Feyenoord. With only a few weeks left on that deal, Feyenoord fans were beginning to worry that the veteran would not remain at the club, with interest from the MLS reported.
However on Thursday, the supporters finally got the news they were waiting for as Kuyt extended his Rotterdam contract until 2017.
Kuyt told the official Feyenoord website, “I’m glad that I’m continuing next season at this great club.
“We as a group went through an instructive and beautiful season, which ended beautifully with the cup win. The feeling of winning prizes and being successful is wonderful.
“If you win a prize, you just want more. With this feeling we should go into the next season together. I’m really excited and confident. “
