The versatile defender’s contract in Arnhem expired at the end of the season, paving the way for Leerdam to seal a move to the U.S.A, with Seattle Sounder’s confirming his signing, pending a visa.
Sounders Sporting Director and Vice President of Soccer Chris Henderson told the club’s website, “He has great experience playing at Feyenoord and Vitesse and his time with the Under-19 and Under-21 Netherlands teams, and he’s at a really good age to come over and help us for years to come.”
The 27-year-old spent five years in the Feyenoord first team, making 97 Eredivisie appearances before he joined Vitesse in 2013. He made 89 league appearances in Arnhem, scoring twelve times.
