de ridder cLeeuwin becomes the clubs second signing of the summer, after Willem Janssen, and signs a four year-deal. The centre back impressed last season at Cambuur, but has now returned to Utrecht, where he started his professional career before spells at AGOVV, and ADO Den Haag.

Leaving Utrecht today though is forward Steve de Ridder, who has signed a four-year-deal with Danish side Copenhagen for an undisclosed fee.

De Ridder moved to Utrecht in the summer for free after the Belgian left Southampton, and the forward netted 10 goals in 32 league games. The 27-year-old will now get the chance to play Champions League football, with Copenhagen entering at the 3rd qualifying round.

Utrecht general manager Wilco van Schaik told the official site, “For Steve, this is a step up. Sportingly and financially. FC Copenhagen have been champion of Denmark four times in the last six years. That’s not nothing. This is a big club. “
