Dutch football manager Leo Beenhakker is to become a federal knight of the KNVB on his 75th birthday during the yearly G-Voetbaldag in Barendrecht tomorrow.

A statement from the KNVB read as follows ”The special qualities that Leo Beenhakker has are especially recognized in his involvement in ensuring a sense of responsibility within football.

”Leo Beenhakker deserves to be knighted by KNVB.”

Leo Beenhakker was the manager of a number of clubs including Ajax and Feyenoord in the Netherlands where he won two titles with Ajax and one with Feyenoord. He also won three La Liga titles as manager of Real Madrid .

At international level he managed the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia , Trinidad & Tobago and Poland.
