The 34-year-old made his debut in the Eredivisie 17 years ago for Feyenoord and was part of the side that won the UEFA Cup in 2002. He then had spells with NAC Breda and Ajax before moving abroad with Ferencvaros.

Leanardo has now returned to Dutch soil with FC Eindhoven after leaving Australian side Newcastle United Jets.

He said on the move, ”I still have the quality to play football. At 34 running is different though. I just want to help the players here at FC Eindhoven.

‘ I also want to show them that you must enjoy your football and have fun. I won the UEFA Cup with Feyenoord 15 years ago and now I am in Eindhoven. I am really happy to be back here in the Netherlands”.
