Depay has been in formidable form for PSV Eindhoven this season, scoring 16 goals in the Eredivisie, and has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.
Ed van Stijn worked as a scout for Manchester United, and watched Cristiano Ronaldo for the Premier League giants as a teenager. The 69-year-old has told AD that compared to Ronaldo at a young age, Depay is better.
Van Stijn said, “Depay you do not judge on his technique”
“With him you look at what he’s doing with that technique to utilize as much as possible. How he makes sure he as much one-on-one’s standing with his face to the goal. It all comes down to details.
“If I compare him to a young Cristiano Ronaldo at the time, then Depay has more strings to his bow. I like him better”
“Ronaldo did even the same things wrong at Manchester United that he did when he was 17”
