Groningen captain Rasmus Lindgren has left the club to sign for Swedish club BK Häcken.

The 31-year-old leaves Groningen on a free transfer with his contract at the Euroborg expiring in a few weeks with Lindgren deciding on a return to his homeland.
The defender/midfielder started his career in the Netherlands with Ajax before initially joining Groningen in 2005. After three years at the Euroborg, Lindgren returned to Ajax before spending a year in Austria with Red Bull Salzburg. In 2013 Lindgren returned to Groningen, and has made 79 league appearances for the club, scoring five goals.
