Bartholomew Ogbeche went into the game in stunning form having netted seven times in his last four games for Willem II. After only 13 minutes the forward made it eight in five with a close range finish to put the visitors ahead.
The lead only lasted ten minutes before Tim Matavz was allowed time to twist in the box and fire a great strike into the top corner.
Vitesse then controlled the game but they couldn’t find a way past Willem II goalkeeper Mattijs Branderhorst, who kept his side level going into the second half.
Just before the hour mark, Willem II stunned the hosts by taking the lead again through Ben Rienstra, who raced onto Fran Sol’s pass before firing past Remko Pasveer.
That seemed like it was going to be the winning goal but in the 87th minute Bryan Linssen steered the ball into the bottom corner to earn his side a point.
Vitesse remain seventh, while Willem II are 14th.
