Liverpool have not given up on persuading Feyenoord youngster Rodney Kongolo to join the club ahead of Manchester City.

rodneManchester City are widely regarded to be the favourites to land the 15-year-old Dutchman, with a deal reportedly already agreed with Feyenoord.

However the players wages of around £6,000 a week may be becoming a sticking point, and other clubs appear to be ready to pounce.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers has not given up the fight to land the midfielder, and the club have been in talks with his agent.

Kongolo is highly regarded by the Feyenoord coaches, and has been compared to ex-France international Patrick Vieira due to his battling play and heavy build.

Rodney is one of three Kongolo brothers currently at Feyenoord, with older brother Terrance on the edge of first team football, while 9-year-old Fidel in the clubs youth academy.
