The two clubs agreed a £25 million fee for the midfielder earlier this week and after Wijnaldum completed his medical at Melwood training ground he put pen to paper on a contract until 2021.
Speaking to the Liverpool official website, Wijnaldum said, “I’m really excited because Liverpool is a big club with a great history and it’s always a dream to play for as big a club as Liverpool.”
Newcastle United signed the 25-year-old last summer from PSV Eindhoven for £14.5 million and the midfielder was their top scorer in the Premier League with 11 goals, but he could not prevent their relegation to the Championship.
Wijnaldum will now join up with his new teammates for their tour of America.
