According to the English media, Liverpool are set to offer Virgil van Dijk a new deal in order to stave off interest from other clubs.

Van Dijk has been lauded for his performances since signing for Liverpool from Southampton for £75 million in January last year.

His performances haven’t gone unnoticed around Europe and according to The Mirror, Real Madrid are circling the Dutch international. However, Liverpool are keen to offer Van Dijk a huge new deal in order to stay.

Football Leaks revealed that Liverpool currently pay the centre-back £124,658-a-week after also paying him a £6million signing-on fee when joining from Southampton.

There are also other add-ons including an upfront loyalty bonus of £5 million plus another £4 million payment on completing 150 games.

Liverpool’s new deal for Van Dijk would see him move onto £200,000 a week and put him near level with their current top earner Mohamed Salah.
